Acer 'Omure Vama'

A highly ornamental, cascading tree, Omure yama, or Omurayama, is a hardy and vigorous selection. Its branches display an upright habit when the tree is young, but they bend downward as it matures, resembling the long, pendulous branches of a Weeping Willow. The slender, deeply divided 7-lobed leaves display rich orange margins in spring, then turn to a bright, fresh green throughout the summer. In autumn, the leaves blaze into brilliant scarlet, orange, and gold tones for a magnificent show. Thriving in either full sun or part shade, it will grow up to 12 inches per year to a height of 8 to 10 feet in 10 years. Absolutely breathtaking in containers, it is also particularly well suited to growing alongside a wall where it can gently weep over the side.
